According to the website nogreenslime.com, you’ve been slimed.
Green Slime, according to the website, “is the propaganda being thrown at you and your neighbors every day by ‘environmental activists’ to condemn and vilify the revolution in energy development that is taking place in the United States.”
The website, which according to the Associated Press is a campaign by PIOGA, features a resources page where viewers will find links to some of the oil and gas associations in the industry. The website asks, “Tired of all the slime? Here are a few links to a few of the organizations that are presenting the facts.”
The website claims to “clean up the slime” in a section where recent news reports are dissected, analyzed, and countered with its own facts about oil and natural gas development. Featured are “real stories” of people who are improving their lives with new jobs, decreased in financial burdens through natural gas lease and royalty payments, and new business development. The site seeks to “rebut the old slime” as it showcases some of what it calls “distortions” and myths.
Another faction of NoGreenSlime’s campaign are billboards along the Pennsylvania Turnpike in New Stanton. The billboard is shaped like Pennsylvania and claims “You’ve Been Slimed” in big green letters.
