Environmental groups in West Virginia are demanding a moratorium on new drilling.
Ten groups have joined forces to fight against development in the Marcellus Shale and beyond. Their main concern as expressed during a state Capitol press conference is the controversial practice of hydraulic fracturing.
The same groups called for a moratorium last year. West Virginia has enacted drilling rules, but the groups say they fail to protect the public.
The groups include the Sierra Club and the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition.
