CARLISLE – Cumberland County commissioners voted on Tuesday to award 10 area park and trail projects with funding brought into the county from the state’s collection of Marcellus shale drilling impact fees.
The $128,000 given to the county to disburse this year will be the third installment of the county’s Land Partnerships Grant Program, program coordinator Stephanie Williams said.
For this round of funding, Williams told commissioners last week that there were 13 applicants seeking $145,000 for conservation projects.
“We have limited funds, which created strong competition this year,” she said.
