Shell Appalachia is very pleased with its exploratory drilling efforts in Little Beaver Township. Scott Bruner, Shell Business Integration Manager, said the drilling has caused a level of excitement. Shell will not release details of what its drilling results were, but they state they are very happy with what they found while drilling.
Shell conducted a meeting in Ellwood City, PA to inform the community of its plans for drilling in the area and to explain the drilling process to property owners within the community.
Shell has plans to drill 150 wells in Tioga County just this year. It is a given that some of these planted wells will be for exploratory purposes, only. Some of the wells may hit a “sweet spot” and others may not.
“We’re hopeful. We really don’t know where we’re going to be at this time next year,” says Burner. He emphasized that the company’s efforts right now were all being placed on the Marcellus Shale drilling. So far, Shell has 5,700 active leases in Butler and Lawrence counties covering approximately 86,000 acres.
The company currently has its headquarters in Wexford, PA – two branch offices in Cranberry – and one office in New Castle, PA.
Property owners who have any questions may contact the Shell company hotline at 877-842-7308 between 7:30AM and 4:00PM Monday through Friday.
