As part of an effort to increase its focus in the Marcellus Shale region, Chief Oil & Gas is set to open its new field office, the Chief Wyalusing Yard, in Wyalusing within the first quarter of the year.
The new office is a result of the company’s growth plan to further take advantage of the natural gas resources in the Marcellus Shale, according to Director of Public Affairs Daria Fish. In December, Chief, along with its partners Enerplus and Tug Hill, announced the acquisition of MKR Holdings LLC for approximately $500 million, which included about 130,000 cubic feet per day’s worth of production, as well as nearly 40 operated wells waiting on completion or pipeline and undeveloped acreage.
The field office consists of three 20 foot by 60 foot modular buildings that will run a variety of natural gas related operations.
“The office will contain approximately 12 employees, which will include field employees, production and completions, drilling consultants, well tenders and more,” Fish said. “Two of the main features of the office will be its conference room and operations control center.”
